Born from a desire to become a global leader in the advancement of women in aviation through education, promotion, mentorship and empowerment, L.I.F.T. is primarily a private Facebook group of over 6,000 women pilots and student pilots. As we grow our 501(c)3 organization we will grow our presence in other more public forums like this one.

Meet our L.I.F.T. President, Krista

Krista working on her flight training

Krista Morisen is the president of Ladies in Flight Training (LIFT). Originally from Long Island, she is now based in Liberty, Indiana. Her educational background includes Associate, Bachelor and Master's degrees in Geology, and a Master's Degree in Executive Fire Service Leadership from Grand Canyon University. She is currently working on a PhD in Organizational Leadership through North Central University.
Aviation Training & Memberships
Krista recounts her flight training as starting at the age of 2 years when she rode along in the aircraft on her mother's flight lessons. With both parents as aviators, Krista went on to begin her flight training in May of 1987 and earned her private pilot certificate in June 2016. She is now working on an instrument rating at Dayton Aviation Services in Moraine, Ohio.
In addition to flight training she has also served in the Civil Air Patrol (CAP). Starting as a cadet at age 19, she has served in a wide array of specialties including Safety, Air Crew as a Mission Observer, as Communications Licensing Officer and Unit Commander.

She is also a member of the Cincinatti branch of Women in Aviation (WAI), the 99s and is a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA).
Starting LIFT
Krista founded Ladies in Flight Training (LIFT) in 2013 as a way to connect with and support other female aviators when confronted with feelings of discouragement in her own flight training. Originally named Female Aviation Student Pilots Sticking Together, the organization was renamed Ladies in Flight Training in 2017. Originally solely a group on Facebook, LIFT has recently expanded through the efforts of Krista and several volunteer members to include a website.

LIFT is a 501(3)(c) non-profit organization, with all proceeds put toward the scholarships it offers to female aviators. Support of LIFT may be done through direct donation or through purchases made through Amazon Smile. Amazon users may select Ladies in Flight Training under the settings in Amazon Smile, whereupon eligible proceeds from purchases will be credited to LIFT and ultimately to scholarship recipients.
LIFT is also supported by a partnership with the EAA Women Soar Society, which will match up to $5,000 of donated funds to fund LIFT's scholarships.

Krista states her goals for LIFT include continued growth, the ability to offer more scholarships to women and ultimately increase the population of female pilots in the aviation industry to 10%.
