Born from a desire to become a global leader in the advancement of women in aviation through education, promotion, mentorship and empowerment, L.I.F.T. is primarily a private Facebook group of over 6,000 women pilots and student pilots. As we grow our 501(c)3 organization we will grow our presence in other more public forums like this one.

Many thanks to our L.I.F.T. Scholarship Judges - their job is a tough one. We use a "blind" review process where applications are gathered by an admin that checks that all pieces of the application requirements are received. She then redacts applicant name, address, and phone number on all documents and creates review folders for each application that are identified via generic numbering system. This process alone takes about 30 minutes per application but is necessary to ensure fair and impartial review by the judges. The judges then independently review the redacted files and rank the applications based on an agreed upon rubric. The scores are averaged and the standard deviation tolerance reviewed. If necessary, the top files are reviewed a second time and additional information obtained from sponsors that wrote the recommendation letters.

Our three judges for the CFI scholarship were Christa Guidry, Caitlin McCarthy, and
Rae Rae Stotts
. Our back-up judges/advisors were
Abbie Friddell
Tabitha Booher
. There is so much appreciation for their countless hours of time dedicated to finalizing the forms and then reviewing the applications.

Last, but not least, thank you to the other two dozen applicants that took the time to apply. Do not be discouraged. Please continue to apply for scholarships! Your day to be announced as a finalist will hopefully soon arrive.
